The European Commission‘s Directorate-General for Research.
The ChallengeInnovation is at the heart of the economic and scientific future of Europe. But how should Europe generate interest and enthusiasm for the DG Research’s Innovation Action Program?
Innovation is about being daring and creative; it’s about shaping great ideas into results, to create more jobs and build a greener healthier and happier society. Emakina created a major media campaign under the “innovation-union” umbrella, targeting the general public, the young generation and opinion multipliers with adapted tools.
An exciting film launched on YouTube and in cinemas combines real life characters with state of the art 3D animation. A mysterious glass sphere appears in three peoples lives and changes their world. It links the elements in the campaign and introduces the key domains of the action plan symbolically. The sphere is back in an iPhone and iPad game. Players roll it around in a futuristic eco-city, in a race to collect generic and thematic bonus points. Emakina also built an interactive glass window projection touch screen, to introduce the key ideas of the campaign to visitors of the Brussels EU Berlaimont Building.
The campaign generated over 85,000 visits to the YouTube clip and positive response on the material produced, boosting the discussion and support for the Commissioner’s Research and Innovation Action Plan.
