The Customer
Mercedes-Benz is part of the Daimler AG automotive group, which also includes the brands Smart, Maybach, AMG and has 270,000 employees. The group specializes in the production of inspiring cars, trucks, vans and first class buses. The Challenge
For the 2012 Auto Show in Brussels, Mercedes-Benz decided to equip all of its exhibitors with iPads. The objective was to present all models of the brand using an interactive easy to use application, rather than with paper brochures. This new medium would also facilitate information gathering on those interested in a particular model, and stored on a server, would manage the queue of prospects waiting for appointments with dealers. Emakina designed and developed this application for Mercedes-Benz.The Solution
The application provides all the required information to fully present a vehicle, held by model and by category. Exhibitors have datasheets, forms and rates as pictures to be able to answer any visitor questions. A calculator displays the class of ecological cars, energy consumption and the cost of various taxes. Finally, a contact form sends requests for brochures and offers, and connects directly to the sales department, with a back-office enhancement to optimize the visitor waiting time.A web interface was designed specifically to meet the needs and expectations of exhibition visitors. A visitor seeking a commercial offer, would be guided by the interface to the appropriate department, which also facilitates the flow, indicating the number of people waiting. A secured local network was put in place for the fleet of iPad, all communicating wirelessly.
Specially designed for iPad, the Mercedes-Benz application has a fluent navigation and elegant design. The takeup by the exhibitors was very fast, and visitors obviously enjoyed this new communication support.
