Running multiple B2B sites on a single platform

Royal FrieslandCampina daily provides millions of consumers throughout the world with dairy products containing the valuable nutrients from milk.

FrieslandCampina produces and sells consumer products such as dairy drinks, infant nutrition, condensed milk, cheese and desserts. It supplies cream and butter products for professional use to bakeries and catering businesses. Additionally, FrieslandCampina produces and sells ingredients and semifinished products to producers of infant nutrition, the food industry and the pharmaceutical sector. The annual turnover amounted to EUR 11.3 billion in 2019.

Emakina.NL works with two FrieslandCampina brands. Debic, the professional product brand for chefs and caterers, and Lattiz, an all-in-one milk frothing system for cafes and other high volume coffee situations.

The challenge

FrieslandCampina needed a way to run multiple B2B sites on a single platform

Until recently, FrieslandCampina’s many websites had been run separately which did not create economies of scale for shared services and technology over the long term. FrieslandCampina asked Emakina to develop a ‘OneSite’ platform whilst simultaneously building two separate branded B2B sites to run on it.

Our solution

We set up one platform for multiple FrieslandCampina brands, supporting both ecommerce and lead generation. 

Emakina and FrieslandCampina archived this through a structured series of workshops including design sprints, roadmapping workshops and delivery sprints.

The results

Successful Commerce pilot launch within 8 weeks

Our first delivery was a commerce pilot for Lattiz Germany, enabling direct orders. The entire process for this was achieved within 8 weeks, proving the effectiveness of Emakina’s and FrieslandCampina’s agile collaboration. 

Following this, parallel design and development streams progressively launched Lattiz in 6 markets and Debic in 10 (with 10 languages), creating and translating the extensive high production-quality engagement content for each brand: detailed recipes, techniques and business interviews.

 The Latiz and Debic front-end content management system is based on Drupal. This open source software was used because of its combination of low cost, ease of development, flexibility and wide industry support. The extended ecommerce features, enabling direct ordering for Lattiz, are based on Salesforce B2B Commerce Cloud.

The OneSite platform enables FrieslandCampina to rollout multiple brands effectively. Frico is the first of multiple brands to be launched on OneSite in 2020, while Salesforce B2B will be leveraged to additional commerce initiatives.
